DG: What’s In It For Me?

What seems to be special about these initials?

Hmmmnn… let’s see. First thing that comes to your mind probably would be the world-class couturier/designer Dolce&Gabbana who specializes in expensive luxury items. Influenced more by designers and is more formal and timeless.  Who also tends to respond to long-term trends rather than seasonal changes.

Or perhaps the named Dorian Gray, the subject of a painting by artist Basil Hallward. Basil is impressed by Dorian’s beauty and becomes infatuated with him.

At a more typical recognition would be Desnoes and Geddes Limited (D&G) which produces one of Jamaica’s best-known exports, Red Stripe beer. It also brews other malt beverages for the local market under the Red Stripe Light, Dragon Stout, Malta (non-alcoholic), Smirnoff Ice, Guinness, and Heineken brand names. Looks like this suits me more than any of the disambiguities listed above! Hehehe. But still I’m sure there’s a better and apt explanation as to why I’m very much a fan of those initials.

DG  has been my sinister sister since birth.  Or perhaps even far before the time that my dear mother has committed herself to bringing me to life. Since then it had become my birthmark, Divina Gonzales. The initials of what is to become of ME.

In reality, it’s not uniquely my own. Just borrowed it or should I say, passed on to me; a legacy at that.  Before me, there’s my father Divino Gonzales, and after me is my younger brother Divino Gonzales Jr. Since then the name had been a part of me, through the years and the years to come. Until the wheels of the bus stops for me.

The pages you’ll soon read bear the most apt and vivid description of the feelings that I have experienced and the thoughts surrounding my mind at that time. They’re made for the author’s satisfaction but I’m hoping the content on the pages might satisfy you as well. This entire blog is for me, for you and for everyone else who wants a share of the world that I’m living in. So I welcome you to my world. Enjoy!

    • Hi Ryan!

Yup I have been to Batanes last year and it was lots of fun! I enjoyed the fantastic views and the foodies. Hoping to do it again, maybe some time in the future.

      Regards,

      Divine Gonzales
